Wayne Melancon – President

Wayne has 25-plus years in the landscape and swimming pool industry. Over 25 years ago, he started building pools with his uncle in New York; after graduating from Liberty University with a business and sports management degree, he decided to remain in Lynchburg, Virginia.

He noticed that no companies in Lynchburg could build your pool and install the rest of your outdoor living area under one roof. Homeowners had to hire separate contractors to do this work or one general contractor who would bring in different subcontractors. His passion for being creative and wanting to see the process through from start to finish made him decide to strike out on his own to solve this     problem. Over twenty years ago, Wayne started Land Tech as a full-service landscape, hardscape, and concrete pool design/build firm.

Randy Mahaffey – Construction Supervisor

Randy brings his knowledge from more than 20 years of experience in the landscape and construction industry, including helping to run a landscape nursery. Randy helps oversee and supervise all elements of the construction and installation of our landscapes, hardscapes, and pools in the field. He has extensive construction, plumbing, hardscape, and masonry experience and has his ICPI and Allan Block certifications. Randy also has extensive knowledge of plants and their care and fertilizers, as well as how to correctly maintain a landscape year-round. Randy’s vast construction knowledge and attention to detail make him an invaluable team member. Randy has been with Land Tech since January 2010.

Rebecca Mahanes – Operations Supervisor

Rebecca is our Operations Supervisor. She oversees project design and material selection to help our clients realize their outdoor living dreams. When not meeting with clients about their prospective or ongoing projects, she also helps manage day-to-day tasks like project management, contracts, change orders, material ordering, and customer service. She has a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Virginia Tech and is a Virginia Certified Horticulturist. After college, she worked for a civil engineering firm and came to Land Tech in January 2010 as a landscape designer. Rebecca also has her LEED Green Associates certification and offers her knowledge of new design trends and computer technology, including CAD for drafting, Photoshop, and 3D modeling.
